Orthospinology is gaining the interest of chiropractors from around the world! Two doctors traveled from Greece and two journeyed from Puerto Rico to join Dr. Burcon and Dr. Zabawa at the Mayer Chiropractic in Clearwater, Florida in January of this year.
Kudos and a collective "Hi Pi" to the ICA’s Council for Upper Cervical Care and especially to our own Drs. Julie Mayer Hunt and Bo Rochester for the January inaugural of the Diplomate of Chiropractic Upper Cervical Procedures advanced degree program. The DCUCP is a 306 hour advanced degree program that has been in development since the Council was created in 2008. Twenty five monthly seminars over a three year period are required to complete the degree.
Listen to the amazing recovery from Trigeminal Neurology this Orthospinology patient relates after a cocktail of pharmaceuticals lead to progressively higher doses and Micro Vascular Decompression Craniotomy made her TN so severe she became suicidal. Internet searches lead her to a "pseudo" upper cervical chiropractor who adjusted her upper cervical spine without radiographs and increased her pain further. As a last resort, she found a certified Orthospinologist who x-rayed, analyzed the radiographs, and initiated a series of upper cervical adjustments which enabled her to return to a normal life complete with kisses from her kids.
Adding to the growing body of evidence supporting the safety, efficacy, efficiency and patient satisfaction regarding upper cervical chiropractic techniques is the recent publication of "Symptomatic reactions, clinical outcomes and patient satisfaction associated with upper cervical chiropractic care: A prospective, multicenter, cohort study". This latest research project, by the prolific Orthospinologists, Kirk Eriksen, D.C. and Roderic "Bo" Rochester D.C., uniquely validates and differentiates upper cervical chiropractic care from other chiropractic techniques and spinal manipulative therapy (SMT), while further documenting its remarkable effectiveness and efficiency.
