Dr. Julie’s Pediatric Unit

Dr. Julie Mayer Hunt is a second-generation upper cervical care chiropractor practicing in Clearwater, FL.  She graduated from Life University in 1981 and started practicing with her father, Dr. David W. Mayer, the founder of Mayer Chiropractic.  Mayer Chiropractic celebrated its 63d anniversary in 2021.  In 2015, Dr. Hunt’s son and third-generation upper cervical chiropractor, Dr. Travis Mayer Hunt, joined Mayer Chiropractic.  In 2013, Dr. Hunt was appointed to the Florida Board of Chiropractic Medicine and continues to serve on this Board today. In 2021, Dr. Hunt was elected to the Board of Directors of the International Chiropractor’s Association.

In 2000, Dr. Hunt completed her Diplomate in Clinical Chiropractic Pediatrics (DICCP).  In 2016, Dr. Hunt was awarded her Fellow in CranioCervical Junction Procedures (FCCJP).  Dr. Hunt has presented upper cervical focused seminars since 2000 across North America and internationally for the ICPA, the ICA, Life University, Society of Chiropractic Orthospinology, The Florida Chiropractic Society, Academy of Upper Cervical Chiropractic Organizations, Upper Cervical Evolution and many other chiropractic organizations and state conferences. 

Dr. Hunt has published has published multiple papers in peer reviewed journals, including a recent co published article with an MD in the October 2018 journal of the Townsend Papers.  She was a contributor to the Orthospinology Procedures (Dr. Kirk Eriksen and Dr. Bo Rochester) textbook and was an author for an upper cervical chapter in the 2nd edition Pediatric Chiropractic textbook edited by Dr. Claudia Anrig and Dr. Gregory Plaugher.

Dr. Hunt, as a founding member of the ICA Upper Cervical Care Council, launched and facilitates the Upper Cervical Board certification program: Diplomate of CranioCervical Junction Procedures (DCCJP) which is a 300 plus hour advanced degree program.  She has been very active in the chiropractic community serving as President (current) and a Board Member for the Society of Orthospinology, Upper Cervical Research Council, the Trauma Imaging Foundation, and is a member of the Special Councils Task Force of the Federation of Chiropractic Licensing Boards (FCLB).  She is a past Florida state representative for ICA and a past board member of the Florida Chiropractic Society.
